“When you’re gone I never land In Neverland”

Neverland – Marillion (2004) HQ FLAC HD 1080p Video ~MetalGuruMessiah~

“Neverland” was released on Marillion’s 13th studio album, Marbles, in the spring of 2004.

Marillion is one of my favorite bands that I’ve done the least videos for…this is only my second (after “Don’t Hurt Yourself”…also from the Marbles album) effort and hopefully I’ll get my third one finished soon enough. Marbles is my favorite album by the band and if you’re not already a fan, it deserves your attention….the Floyd influence is strong with this one! 🙂

Hopefully the video will find a few new fans for both Marillion and P.J. Hogan’s incredibly beautiful, fantastic film Peter Pan from 2003. If you haven’t yet seen it, trust me, it’s worth a buy on blu-ray because it’s really that amazing and has great repeat value….if not at least give it a rent and and watch it with your family!

Dedicated to my newest, littlest family member beautiful Eve Lynn Mae.

[Lyrics]
When the darkness takes me over
Face down, emptier than zero
Invisible you come to me
..quietly
Stay beside me
Whisper to me “Here I am”
And the loneliness fades

Some people think I’m somethin’
Well you gave me that, I know
But I always feel like nothing
When I’m in the dark alone

You provide the soul, the spark that drives me on
Makes me something more than flesh and bone

At times like these
Any fool can see
Any fool can see
Your love inside me

All these years
Truth In front of my eyes
While I denied
What my heart knows was right

At times like these
Any fool can see
Any fool can see
Your love inside me

I want to be someone
I want to be someone
I want to be someone
Who someone would want to be
Someone would want to be

Wendy
Darling
In the kitchen
With your dreams

Will you fly
again
Take to the sky
again

Undo the hooks
Once and for all
Banish the tic tic tic tok tok tok
Again

Will you be
Yourself for me
Cause I can take it
I can stand
Anything

When you’re with me
I can stand it
I can stand

But when you’re gone
I never land
In Neverland

Want to be someone someone would want to be
someone someone would want to be
someone someone would want to be
someone someone someone someone

Any fool
Any fool can see
Any fool can see
Your love
Inside me

Season Of The Witch – Donovan (1966) 2011 FLAC Stereo Remaster

Season Of The Witch – Donovan (1966) 2011 FLAC Stereo Remaster HD 1080p ~MetalGuruMessiah~

“Season Of The Witch” was released British singer-songwriter Donovan’s third studio album, Sunshine Superman in the US in September 1966. The album was not released in the UK because of a contractual dispute.

In June 1967, a compilation of the Sunshine Superman and Mellow Yellow albums was released as Sunshine Superman in the UK. Sunshine Superman was named after Donovan’s hit single released in the US in July 1966. (Most of the tracks from this and the Mellow Yellow albums were not mixed into stereo until the 2011 2-CD deluxe edition issued by UK EMI).

I’ve mentioned before that “Sunshine Supermen” was one of the very earliest songs that I have memory of so it will always be kinda special. Donovan has alot of really great music and I get asked about doin’ vids for other Donovan greats “Atlantis” and “Hurdy Gurdy Man” often….of course they are special and I’ll get around to ’em soon. Till then….here’s “Season of the Witch” featuring the 2011 stereo track from FLAC source playing to a video edit of Benjamin Christensen’s 1922 Swedish-Danish silent film “Häxan” or “Witchcraft Through the Ages” (English title)….a truly amazing silent film that you really should see if you haven’t. It’s an obvious choice, and its been done before, but I thought I’d like to try a new edit….and of course use the best audio available for it! Hope you enjoy the season!

Whilst still incorporating folk music, these recordings mark a distinct change in Donovan’s music, representing some of the first psychedelia released. A full rock band backs up Donovan on many of the songs, and the instrumentation had been expanded, being one of the first pop albums to extensively use the sitar and other unique musical instruments. This change is partially the result of working with producer Mickie Most, whose pop sensibilities led to chart hits for many other artists at the time.

Donovan’s lyrics began to encompass his increasing ability to portray “Swinging London” and give listeners an insider’s look into the mid-sixties pop scene. He was known to be close to The Beatles and Brian Jones at this time, and he became widely known after “Sunshine Superman” became a chart-topper in the US, and hit #2 in the UK. Donovan’s penchant for name-dropping in songs such as two influenced by his travel to Los Angeles, “The Trip” and “The Fat Angel” (written for Mama Cass) coupled with his chart success helped elevate him to superstar status. In addition to noting the people in the pop scene, Donovan recorded “Bert’s Blues” for his friend and folk music notable Bert Jansch.

Contrasting this modern bent was Donovan’s fascination with medieval themes in such songs as “Legend of a Girl Child Linda” (written for Brian Jones’ girlfriend Linda Lawrence) and “Guinevere”. The rich descriptions of colour and environment that Donovan developed in individual songs on Fairytale were now evident throughout his writing.

Several other songs were recorded for Sunshine Superman, but did not make the cut. These include “Museum” (later rerecorded and released on Mellow Yellow), “Superlungs My Supergirl” (later rerecorded and released on Barabajagal) and “Breezes of Patchulie” (originally called “Darkness of My Night” and released on Donovan’s 1964 demo collection Sixty Four). The Sunshine Superman recordings of these songs were all included on Troubadour The Definitive Collection 1964–1976.

In the video for the Beatles’ “A Day in the Life”, a close up of a spinning turntable shows the Epic Records version of Sunshine Superman playing. The film was shot at the recording sessions for the song, which was included on Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

When I look out my window
Many sights to see
And when I look in my window
So many different people to be
That it’s strange
So strange

You got to pick up every stitch
You got to pick up every stitch
You got to pick up every stitch
Mmmm, must be the season of the witch
Must be the season of the witch, yeah
Must be the season of the witch

When I look over my shoulder
What do you think I see?
Some other cat lookin’ over
His shoulder at me
And he’s strange
Sure is strange

You got to pick up every stitch
You got to pick up every stitch, yeah
Beatniks are out to make it rich
Oh no, must be the season of the witch
Must be the season of the witch, yeah
Must be the season of the witch

You got to pick up every stitch
Two rabbits runnin’ in the ditch
Beatniks out to make it rich
Oh no, must be the season of the witch
Must be the season of the witch
Must be the season of the witch
When I go

When I look out my window
What do you think I see?
And when I look in my window
So many different people to be
It’s strange
Sure is strange

You got to pick up every stitch
You got to pick up every stitch
Two rabbits runnin’ in the ditch
Oh no, must be the season of the witch
Must be the season of the witch, yeah
Must be the season of the witch
When I go
When I go

“On the 24th of May I’ll gather up your reins”…Blue Oyster Cult “The Revenge of Vera Gemini” (1976)

The Revenge of Vera Gemini – Blue Oyster Cult (1976) 192KHz/24bit FLAC ~MetalGuruMessiah~

“The Revenge of Vera Gemini” was released on Blue Öyster Cult’s fourth studio album, Agents of Fortune, on May 21st 1976. This is one of my all time favorite albums and I love each song enough to make a video for them all….this is the third I’ve done for a track from the album. This song was co-written by Patti Smith (with Albert Bouchard) and I love her vocal contributions to the song!

The audio is sourced from a 192KHz/24bit FLAC….i think it sounds fantastic! I need to redo the two other videos I have made for tracks from Agents of Fortune to include these new versions. The video was from a poorer quality source, so I tried to do some things to remove the noise when it’s played full screen….it’s not entirely successful, but looks better than it would without the effects. It’s a very cool film (as detailed below).

The film in the video is edited from Harpya, a 1979 short Belgian animated film written and directed by Raoul Servais. It stars Will Spoor, Fran Waller Zeper and Sjoert Schwibethus. The film won the Palme d’Or for Best Short Film at the 1979 Cannes Film Festival. Its mix of horror and black comedy has given it a cult following.

Hope you enjoy the effort!

[Lyrics]
You’re boned like a saint
With the consciousness of a snake

You’re the kind of girl
I’d like to find
Face like an angel
But you’re boned like the devil

Your eyes have shifted from me
Everyone saw what you did
You have slipped from beneath me
Like a false and nervous squid

Oh no more horses horses
We’re gonna swim like a fish
Into the hole, in which you planned to ditch me
My lovely Vera Marie

You planned to leave me cold
But you’ll never get your wish
On the 24th of May
I’ll gather up your reins

You filled me with a vengeance
And you touched me with your breath
I’m gonna pull you from this dance
You’re gonna ride so easily

Oh no more horses horses
We’re gonna swim like a fish
Into the hole, in which you planned to ditch me
My lovely Vera Marie

I was your victim
I was well deceived
Hell’s built on regret
But I love your naked neck

And evil lies that you told me
Could make me believe your two-faced
Because two faces have you
And they’re both gonna go

Oh no more horses horses
We’re gonna swim like a fish
Into the hole, in which you planned to ditch me
My lovely Vera Gemini
