“And you sure looked fine Oh yeah, with your hooks and line…” From 1980, Steve Forbert’s “Song For Katrina”

Song For Katrina – Steve Forbert (1980) FLAC Remaster HD 1080p

“Song For Katrina” was released on Steve Forbert’s third solo album, Little Stevie Orbit. Steve Forbert is such an incredibly original and brilliant musician….I’m listening to his music more than ever lately, it never gets old!

This is my second vid from a track from the Little Stevie Orbit album, check out “Lonely Girl” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBbzOSSHyhI

I started listening to Steve Forbert in 1979 after hearing his hit “Romeo’s Tune”. Picked up the album it was released on (Jackrabbit Slim) and was immediately taken by the quirkiness and originality of the songs. Shortly after I picked up his first album, which I liked even more. Then this third album, which was equally fine.

In discussing great artists that were overlooked and that should have been way more popular, to me Steve Forbert is one of the first to come to mind. He was unfortunately labeled as “the next Dylan” (I remember at the time it was attached to him in nearly every reference) and all that baggage ultimately didn’t help him. He is an absolutely genius on every level….a master songwriter, a singularly unique vocalist!

After years of listening to mp3 versions (all I had in the many years since I sold my original vinyl) finally was able to pick up this album from Steve Forbert.com…man, it’s glorious! The sound is amazing and the bonus tracks are seriously as good as or better than the album tracks!

I already had the remaster of his two earlier albums (released on one CD with equally stunning and worthy bonus tracks from both) and now that I finally have this one……I’ve been on a Steve Forbert binge! I suggest you do as well…if you’re already a fan you know the deal, if you’re not….well, you are in for something special.

As usual HUGE THANKS to everyone who’s art contributed to this new art…..THANK YOU!!!

Special thanks to:

[Lyrics]
You sure looked good bound for Shilburn Town
Tryin’ to drive the car while the rain came down
And you sure looked fine
Yeah, readin’ highway signs

And you sure looked good up on Crystal Beach
Reelin’ in them fish with your hair all bleached
And you sure looked fine
Oh yeah, with your hooks and line

La da di da dum La da di da day
Every move you make, everything that you say
You sure are fine
Oh yeah and you blow my mind

And you sure looked good out at Rainbow Falls
Pass the parking lots and the crowded malls, yeah
And you sure looked fine
Yeah, underneath them pines

La da di da dum La da di da day
Every move you make, everything that you say
You sure are fine
Oh, yeah and you blow my mind

You sure look good down in ol’ Canton
With your new blue dress and your lipstick on
And you sure look fine
Yeah drinkin’ cheap red wine

And you sure look good down in “Meisha-shay”
With your reindeer eyes upon christmas day
And you sure looked fine
Oh babe like a valentine

La da di da dum La da di da day
Every move you make, everything you say
Well you sure are fine
Oh yeah and you blow my mind
