“He never thought that he’d be number nine”

“Man In The Middle” was released on Flash and The Pan’s debut album in the fall of 1979. Purchased on a whim (album cover art was often the only clue back in the day), this record blew my mind from the first listen…just incredibly cool and groovy songs, with (as heard on this song) a rhythm section from the gods! 😉 These guys could seriously cook!!!

I’ve been wanting to go back and finish some hard rock and funky vids that have been sittin’, and thought I could hit the funky with this classic Flash And The Pan. (As for the hard rock?….yeah, standby for some!)

This video was started back around the time I began the video for The Rolling Stones’ “Miss You” (12 Inch Mix), and I couldn’t decide which one to go with first as they were both very similar looking. Decided to go with The Stones and then push this one out a bit later so it would not be right on top of the other…didn’t think it would be almost a year later! Anyway, yeah….back to a style I’ve used several times in the past….Flash And The Pan’s “Man In The Middle”…..if this one don’t make you wanna get up and shake, seek immediate medical attention, you may be comatose or decrepit?! 😉 Don’t be number 9….dance!!!!

As usual HUGE THANKS to everyone who’s art contributed to this new art…THANK YOU!!!!

Another goodie from the album [and one of my earliest videos]:

And The Band Played On (Down Among The Dead Men)

[Lyrics]
See the office, see the phone Call the number, no one home
Take a powder, have to think
Now the question, where to drink
He’s a number nine man with a price on his head
A smile on his mirror and a sag in his bed

Man in the middle – left right
Man in the middle – that’s right
Man in the middle – (ah!)

Take an evening, that’s his style
Likes to boogie, style a while
Make it easy, piece of meat
Now the question, got no feet

He’s a silicone man with a lump on his face
A stain on his shirt and a rat in the race

Man in the middle – left right
Man in the middle – that’s right
Man in the middle – (ah!)

He never thought that he’d be number nine
But now he’s in it, he’s doing fine
Where he’s going he doesn’t know
But where it’s showing he’s never slow

Man in the middle – left right
Man in the middle – that’s right
Man in the middle – (ah!)

See the jacket, up for sale
Takes the ante, save the whale
There’s a call out, sprung again
Now the question, he don’t know who to blame

Man in the middle – left right
Man in the middle – that’s right
Man in the middle – (ah!)

Man in the middle – left right
Man in the middle – that’s right
Man in the middle – all night
Man in the middle – all (way?)
Man in the middle – left right
Man in the middle – that’s right
Man in the middle – all night
Man in the middle – (left right)

“And it’s easier for you, yeah it’s easier for you”

“Salome” was released on Old 97’s third studio album, Too Far To Care, in the summer of 1997.

I’m a huge fan of Old 97’s and this album in particular, this is my second video for a track from it, the first being “Broadway” (which I uploaded in October of 2012 and mentioned that I hoped “Salome” would be my next as it’s maybe my favorite track from an album filled with favorites (love the lyrics and the unusual arrangement….wow, didn’t think it would be almost 2 years!)

Came across this old footage clip a while back and immediately thought that it would fit perfectly with “Salome”…didn’t spend much time on it…just wanted to let that headless lady find the groove a bit! 🙂 It also includes clips from the 1923 silent film…a strange thing in it’s own right (I wanted to use more of it….but then there wouldn’t have been enough headless dancing! LOL!)

Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for checking it out!

As usual HUGE THANKS to everyone who’s art made this new art possible…THANK YOU!!!

[Lyrics]
Salome, uncross your heart.
I know what goes on inside, it’s over before it starts.
Well I’ll stay all night, I’ll wait right here.
The full moon might work magic girl, but I won’t disappear.

CHORUS:
And I’m tired of making friends, and I’m tired of making time,
And I’m sick to death of love, and I’m sick to death of trying.
And it’s easier for you, yeah it’s easier for you.
And it’s easier for you, yeah it’s easier for you.

Salome, untie my hands.
Well I’ll find another lady, and you’ll wreck another man.
It’s over now, yeah and so are we.
My blood’s turned to dirt girl, you broke every part of me.

And I’m tired of making friends, and I’m tired of making time,
And I’m sick to death of love, and I’m sick to death of trying.
And it’s easier for you, yeah it’s easier for you.
And it’s easier for you, yeah it’s easier for you.

(repeat chorus)

You have entered the Twilight Zone

“The Twilight Zone” was released on Rush’s fourth studio album, the groundbreaking, epic, masterpiece, 2112 in the spring of 1976. I’ve talked about this album on my other videos for tunes from it (this is my fourth track from the album….and my 10th Rush vid), so I won’t subject you to the repetition of me saying how great it is……you probably know that already!?

I’ve seen every single episode of The Twilight Zone and it was fun to feature a couple of clips in a video. I hope you enjoy the video….thanks for watching!

As usual HUGE THANKS to everyone who’s art made this new art possible…THANK YOU!!!!

[Lyrics]
A pleasant faced man steps up to greet you
He smiles and says he’s pleased to meet you
Beneath his hat the strangeness lies
Take it off, he’s got three eyes
Truth is false and logic lost
Now the fourth dimension is crossed…

You have entered the Twilight Zone
Beyond this world strange things are known
Use the key, unlock the door
See what your fate might have in store…
Come explore your dreams’ creation
Enter this world of imagination…

You wake up lost in an empty town
Wondering why no one else is around
Look up to see a giant boy
You’ve just become his brand new toy
No escape, no place to hide
Here where time and space collide

You have entered the Twilight Zone
Beyond this world strange things are known
Use the key, unlock the door
See what your fate might have in store…
Come explore your dreams’ creation
Enter this world of imagination…
