He has taken her hand, he has become like they are…..R.I.P. Allen Lanier

I was so sorry to learn that Allen Lanier had passed away on August 14th.  I was a HUGE fan of his keyboard work with Blue Oyster Cult…he had a very unique style and really added so much to so many of their songs. blueoystercult-600-1376600126

This song always seems to have special meaning to me in the fall…more so this one than ever.  This one’s for you Allen, R.I.P., brother.

The rock classic “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” was released in the spring of 1976 on Blue Oyster Cult’s album Agents Of Fortune.

Those ringing guitars, that riff from the gods…and yes, that cowbell! The tune is one of the greatest in the history of rock. Period.

This is the fourth video I’ve made for a song by Blue Oyster Cult, one of my very favorite rock bands. This video started out as a video for another song on the Agents Of Fortune album, “Morning Final” (most of my videos are from deep album tracks, and I have a grand total of 4 from Agents Of Fortune, not including Reaper….that I plan to make). However during the hunt for images, I stumbled across one of the reaper images….and couldn’t resist halting “Morning Final” to crank out the absolute greatest, most well-known track the band ever did.

It was one of those videos where there so many things going on, it was very difficult to lose so many great things….very nice masks of the full moon in Romeo and Juliet’s window, time-lapse crowds, and of course, much more of my favorite….storm clouds and lightning!

It’s just one of the masterpieces of rock….the video is not nearly sophisticated enough to honor the song properly, but it’s the best I could do.

Hope you enjoy the effort!

“The Vigil”

[Lyrics]
All our times have come
Here but now they’re gone
Seasons don’t fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they are
Come on baby…don’t fear the reaper
Baby take my hand…don’t fear the reaper
We’ll be able to fly…don’t fear the reaper
Baby I’m your man…

Valentine is done
Here but now they’re gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity…Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday…Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday…Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday…We can be like they are
Come on baby…don’t fear the reaper
Baby take my hand…don’t fear the reaper
We’ll be able to fly…don’t fear the reaper
Baby I’m your man…

Love of two is one
Here but now they’re gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn’t go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared…saying don’t be afraid
Come on baby…and she had no fear
And she ran to him…then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodby…she had become like they are
She had taken his hand…she had become like they are
Come on baby…don’t fear the reaper75-Frame-1 75-Frame-2 75-Frame-3 75-Frame-4 75-Frame-5 175-Frame 17 175-Frame 111 175-Frame 112 175-Frame 120 175-Frame 121 175-Frame 122 175-Frame 123
